Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you use Sign in with Apple, we receive the identity token Apple provides. Your email may be hidden per your Apple ID settings.

Game Data

We collect volleyball game records including scores, timestamps, duration, target points, winner, and optional voice-dictated notes. This data is created by you on the Apple Watch or iPhone and synced to our cloud service.

Health & Fitness Data

With your explicit permission via Apple HealthKit, we may access:

• Step count
• Active energy burned (calories)
• Heart rate data during games
• Workout session data

Health data is stored locally on your device and in your private cloud account. We never sell health data to third parties. We never use health data for advertising. We never share health data with third parties for any purpose other than providing the app's functionality to you.

Location Data

With your permission, we collect your location to:

• Record where you played volleyball
• Show weather conditions at game time (temperature, wind speed, wind direction)
• Enable court location features for session scheduling

Location data is stored with your game records and is not shared with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Voice Dictation

When you use the dictation feature on Apple Watch to add game notes, your speech is converted to text by Apple's on-device dictation system. We store only the resulting text, not audio recordings.

Photo Library Access

With your permission, we access your photo library in read-only mode to find video clips recorded during your games. We do not upload, copy, modify, or share your photos or videos. Access is solely for display within the app.

How We Use Your Information

• Display your game history, statistics, and performance trends
• Sync data between your Apple Watch and iPhone
• Enable session scheduling and community features
• Send you local notifications about upcoming sessions you've joined
• Compute leaderboards and aggregate statistics
• Show weather conditions for your game records

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (PostgreSQL) with row-level security policies. Each user can only access their own game data through the API. All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and are never stored in plain text. Authentication tokens are managed by Supabase Auth with automatic refresh and expiration.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the app:

• Supabase — Database hosting and authentication. Supabase processes your data on our behalf under their privacy policy and does not use your data for their own purposes.
• Apple HealthKit — Health and fitness data access, governed by Apple's privacy terms. We comply with all Apple HealthKit guidelines.
• Apple WeatherKit — Weather data for game conditions. No personal data is sent to WeatherKit.
• Apple Sign in with Apple — Authentication, governed by Apple's privacy terms.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any other third parties except when required by law.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Game records and statistics are kept indefinitely unless you delete them individually or request full account deletion.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• View all your data within the app at any time
• Edit or delete individual game records
• Export your data by contacting us
• Delete your entire account and all associated data
• Revoke HealthKit, location, photo library, or notification permissions at any time through iOS Settings > Privacy
• Opt out of any future marketing communications

California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

European Residents (GDPR)

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation including the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object. Our legal basis for processing your data is your consent (for HealthKit and location data) and the performance of our contract with you (for account and game data).

Children's Privacy

Kings of the Beach is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the app or by email. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
